The European Road Cycling Championships in September will not be held in Trentino this year
The European Road Cycling Championships will not take place in September in Trentino due to pandemic situation.
The Continental Union UEC states that the championship will be held at the same venue next year and similar date. This year's European Championships from sessions could be held elsewhere.
The Continental Road Championship was about to take place in Trentino from 9 to 13 September. "Unfortunately, the uncertainty caused by the current health crisis does not provide a sufficient guarantee of organizing an event for such a size. Changes in the international calendar, which completely overturned this season, took the level of the championship," said UEC.
Due to the current break, there is a risk of overpressure in the calendars in the second half of the year. All three Grand Tour, world championships and possibly big postponed spring classics should take place. However, the European Cycling Union does not give up the chance to experience this year's European Championships. "We very closely accept with the (international union) the ICU the national federated federation on various alternatives for the 2020 road championship and the UEC calendar. ´´
The Mountain Bike European Championships in Graz which was about to be held from 14 to 17 May have been postponed as well.
